TOOL: On Hiatus Until 2005
April 1, 2003According to the unofficial TOOL web site Toolshed.down.net, TOOL will likely remain on a hiatus for the next 18 months while A PERFECT CIRCLE — who features in their ranks TOOL frontman Maynard James Keenan — complete work on their sophomore album and the subsequent touring activities in support of the CD.
"Well, kids, we knew it was going to happen eventually," reads a posting on the site. "Once [A PERFECT CIRCLE] was handed the suddenly-open slot on Lollapalooza (due to QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE stepping aside for some dates),turns out their new tour schedule disrupted an unannounced short summer TOOL tour. Apparently, some of those TOOL dates had already been booked unbeknownst to [A PERFECT CIRCLE] management, and a choice had to be made. Someone close to the band (who demanded anonymity) reports that she heard a pivotal figure in this matter call [A PERFECT CIRCLE] 'the priority for now'. Since the [A PERFECT CIRCLE] dates are still confirmed, it looks like the unannounced summer dates will remain unannounced. With [A PERFECT CIRCLE] recording and touring scheduled for the next 18 months, it suddenly seems likely that we won't be hearing much major TOOL news until 2005. What do you even say to that."
